Excellent walking tour! Reserve your spot today.

Every step of our walk through the Presidio opens a new chapter in this, the 250th anniversary of the founding of both the United States and San Francisco. From the Ramaytush Ohlone, the area’s first inhabitants, to the U.S. soldiers who trained here before heading off to war, you’ll discover how this storied military outpost evolved into a national park in our own backyard. Along the way, learn which three flags once flew over the post, see where refugees from the 1906 earthquake found shelter, visit a famous movie location, stroll through San Francisco’s oldest residential neighborhood, and hear the stories of the people who shaped this remarkable place.

We will also tour the stunning Presidio Tunnel Tops, a 14-acre park perched above two tunnels reconnecting the Presidio to the Bay. With sweeping views and thoughtful design, it’s one of San Francisco’s newest and most celebrated public spaces. You’ll learn how the park came to life and how the Presidio Trust, National Park Service, and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy work together to care for and enhance this 1,500-acre national park within the city. Come for the history—and stay for the views!

We will assemble at the Officer’s Club at 50 Moraga Avenue in the Presidio.  Paid parking is available nearby. The whole tour will start promptly at 10:00 so please be on time. The tour will last about 2 hours and will end at the lower (Northern End) of the Parade Ground.  Following the tour, all are welcome to join the group for an optional lunch at Colibri Mexican Bistro near the Officers' Club where we started.  Price for the walking tour is $30 for Members and $30 for guests.  Limited to 20, however, a waitlist will be provided for cancellations.  No cancellation refunds after April 8.

Pre-Show Dinner before New Conservatory Theater Performance of "How To Make An American Son" -  We will meet at 5:45pm for dinner and drinks at Max's Opera Cafe (601 Van Ness Ave. at Opera Plaza in San Francisco) on Saturday, April 25. If you wish to join us for dinner, please pay $40 to reserve your spot. This helps us arrange the correct number of seats at the restaurant. At the restaurant, we will return the $40 to you in cash, and everyone will pay individually for what they choose to eat or drink. IMPORTANT - Bring cash to pay for dinner, instead of paying using a credit card. All alcoholic beverages will be on a separate individual tab.

This link is ONLY to register for the dinner, but does NOT include a ticket to the show. If you wish to buy a show ticket, click to go to the separate MAX event webpage for "How To Make An American Son - A Comedy (New Conservatory Theater)." Click here to buy a ticket to the show: Buy Ticket to Show Here

The registration deadline for the pre-show dinner is Saturday, April 18. Note that this is later than the deadline to purchase show tickets. No refunds will be allowed after that date. There is a limit of 10 people for this dinner, but a wait list will be created if that limit is exceeded, and we will contact the restaurant to see if they can accommodate more than 10 people.

Join event champion Bruce Cecil as we go see the regional premiere of How to Make an American Son on Saturday, April 25, 8 p.m. at New Conservatory Theater at 25 Van Ness Ave., just off Market Street in San Francisco. MAX has secured 10 tickets, all together in a group. Tickets are $39 for both MAX members and their guests (this discounted price includes all service fees). A wait list will be available for possible additional discounted tickets. Reserve and pay for the show here. Register on this page to purchase one of MAX's discounted tickets for this performance.

This is an audacious comedy about who is entitled to privilege. It involves a Madonna concert and stealing dad's credit card. Teenager Orlando enjoys a lavish and privileged life, thanks to his family's successful business, but his Honduran-born dad has different ideas of where his hard-earned cash should go. Click here for more details about the play: Link to Info About Play

Deadline for refunds of show tickets is Saturday, April 4, unless there is a person on the wait list who is willing to purchase your ticket after this cutoff date. For additional information, contact Bruce at bruce.cecil@maxsf.org.

Optional Pre-show Dinner - YOU MUST REGISTER SEPARATELY FOR THIS EVENT, NOT HERE: We also will meet at 5:45 pm for dinner and drinks beforehand at Max's Opera Cafe (601 Van Ness Ave. at Opera Plaza in San Francisco). If you wish to join us for the pre-show dinner, register SEPARATELY by clicking on this link: Registration for Pre-Dinner Show

NOTE that the deadline for registering for the pre-show dinner is Saturday, April 18, which is a later deadline than for purchasing theater tickets.
