Discover the Cable Car Museum, a free educational gem in San Francisco, showcasing the iconic cable car system since 1873. Explore interactive exhibits, historic cars, and artifacts. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the underground cables and gears. A must-visit for history buffs and families! Event details: - Limited to 20 people - Free entrance, but $10 registration fee (refunded at the tour) - Waitlist available for cancellations - No refunds after September 21

We will start the Tour at 11:00am. Allow at least an hour if you’re at all a history buff. You can take a cable car to the front door, or get your exercise and walk uphill. So worth it! This museum is surprisingly interesting (especially when you have someone with you who loves to know how things work).

Event is limited to 20 people. The museum entrance is free, but you must register and pay a $10 fee to reserve your spot. The reservation fee will be refunded at the tour. A waitlist will be made available for cancellations. NO REFUNDS for cancellations after September 21.

There are several parking structures near the museum, but public transportation (such as bus, Uber or Lyft) is recommended.  Lunch is optional; if you are not going to join us for lunch, please let the organizer know. This is a free self-guided tour and self-explanatory.  Attendees are free to explore the museum on their own.

Optional lunch at Hunan House  (826 Washington St, San Francisco, CA 94108), which is about 7 minutes’ walk from the museum.

Hunan House after the museum - Those interested can join us at the nearby Hunan House in Chinatown.  Hunan House is a family run business. Chinese food enthusiasts flock to Hunan Home's Restaurant for award-winning cuisine that's reputedly "the best kept secret in Chinatown." The extensive menu features all the traditional items you expect to find, including classic Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef and eggplant with spicy garlic sauce. Diners particularly love the chicken with orange peel, prawns with honey walnuts, pot stickers and, of course, hot and sour soup.  They have vegetarian, but limited. Link for restaurant is:  https://hunanhousecatogo.com/#home

Hunan House lunch will be from approximately 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. If you wish to join us for lunch, please pay $20 to reserve your spot. This helps us arrange the correct number of seats at the restaurant. Limit is 14 people. A waitlist is available for cancellations or possible additional seats.  At the restaurant, we will return the $20 to you in cash. Please bring some cash to help settle the bill.

Deadline for the lunch reservation is September 17, 2024. No refunds will be allowed after September 17. To reserve a spot for the lunch, go to: https://www.maxsf.org/event-5710834

Please consider carpooling if you drive or using public transportation is the best solution.
