SOLD OUT - PBO: The "HIP" Revolution

  • November 08, 2018
  • 8:00 PM (PST)
  • ODC Theatre, 3153 17th St., San Francisco, CA

This dynamic evening of beautiful music, discussion and history from the HIP Revolution is sure to inspire.  Sixty years ago, the historically-informed performance (HIP) movement was borne from a group of musicians who wanted to rebel against “mainstream” classical music.  They created a movement where original instruments were used, in the performance style the composers intended, while their audience walked away with an authentic experience.  These “rebels” put Baroque music on the map and made HIP a popular option for music students today.

This November 8th performance by  Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (PBO) will travel from HIP’s beginnings to today and will feature three recent Juilliard graduates and their teachers (PBO Orchestra members).  They will be performing Music by Handel, Vivaldi and Geminiani.  Click here for more information.

The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra debuted in 1981.  San Francisco based Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale has become recognized as America’s leading historically informed ensemble.

The performance is now sold out.
