Join MAX to watch The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD theater broadcast of Aida, at the AMC Kabuki 8 (at Post Street and Fillmore Street). The opera will be simulcast live from New York's Lincoln Center on Saturday, January 25th, starting at 9:30 AM.

Aida is widely considered one of Giuseppe Verdi's best operas.  Commissioned by the Cairo opera house shortly after the opening of the Suez Canal, Aida is an intimate love story set in an epic mythological interpretation of ancient Egypt.  The opera is packed with magnificent choruses, complex ensembles, and elaborate ballets.  Aida, a captive Ethiopian princess, and Ramadès, an Egyptian General, struggle between their secret love for each other and their duty to their respective kings and nations.  Aida's rival is the Pharaoh's daughter, Amneris, who is in unrequited love for Ramadès.

This production features a spectacular new staging, which brings audiences inside the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt with intricate projections and dazzling animations.

We'll meet in the lobby of the theater by 9:00 AM which will give time to distribute the tickets and for everyone to get any refreshments and get settled before the peformance begins at 9:30 AM.  The opera will run three hours and fifteen minutes with one intermission.

After the opera, those interested can join us for lunch at a Pa'ina, a casual Hawaiian restaurant next door to the theater (deposit required).
