Oakland Zoo Tickets Now Available!

Join event champion Bruce Cecil on Saturday, Aug 10, for a visit to the Oakland Zoo.

The Oakland Zoo is home to more than 850 native and exotic animals, including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and arthropods, with a focus on animals from Africa and California.  Oakland Zoo is nationally recognized as an animal welfare, rescue, and conservation leader.

Included with your ticket is a free ride on the gondola.

Please register here on the MAX website for this event, even though everyone must also buy their own ticket for the event (see details below). By registering, you help us to know who will be attending the event. Also, if you are unable to attend, please remember to cancel your registration.

We will meet at 11 a.m. at the zoo entrance. At 1 p.m., we will eat lunch in the zoo at Landing Cafe. The zoo closes its entry at 4 p.m., but visitors can continue inside the zoo until about 5 p.m. People are free to stay as long as they like.

Tickets need to be bought in advance - general admission is NOT allowed at the zoo entrance. For this event, each person should buy his own ticket on-line, because zoo ticket prices are variable (dynamic pricing), and change depending on the day. They average around $15 to $18. Senior age 64+ get a discount. Prices increase as you get closer to the event date, so it is best to buy tickets early. Tickets do not go on sale until 28 days before - which means they go on sale for our event on July 14 or 15. Here is the link to buy tickets: https://www.oaklandzoo.org/tickets

The zoo is NOT near any public transportation, but has parking. If you drive, you save money by also buying advanced parking for $12. Parking costs $15 if not purchased in advance. Here is the link to pay for parking:

An alternative to driving is to take a ride share. You can park at San Leandro BART Station. If you call me, the event organizer, I can arrange for a car pool pickup at 10:30 a.m. from the San Leandro BART Station for 3 to 4 people.
