Showtime: 8:00 pm, Castro Theatre
Meeting Time: 5:30 pm for dinner or 7:30 pm in the line outside the theater
About a dozen MAX members enjoyed January's MAX Friday Movie, "Just Mercy," on January 10th. We've decided to offer another special movie night activity this month, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 20th.
Our show, “Harriet,” starts at 8 p.m. in the Castro Theater. The film is based on the thrilling and inspirational life of an iconic American freedom fighter and abolitionist, Harriet Tubman, who escaped slavery and risked her life to lead others to freedom through the network of safehouses known as the Underground Railroad. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history. The exemplary, Tony-winning Broadway actor Cynthia Erivo stars as Harriet Tubman.
Those who wish to eat together beforehand are invited to join us at 5:30 p.m. at Starbelly (3583 16th Street, in the Castro at the corner of Market St and 16th St).
Or if you prefer, meet us in the line that queues outside the theater (if there is a queue) or just outside the entrance to the theater, next to the theater’s ticket kiosk, between 7:30 to 7:45pm. Look for your event champion, Bruce, who will have a MAX shirt and sign.
IMPORTANT: To enter the theatre together and sit together as a group, please purchase a ticket before arriving at the theater. Advance tickets may be purchased here. When purchasing tickets, please be sure to select the Mon, Jan 20th 8:00 PM show. Please RSVP on Meetup here to give the event champion, Bruce, an idea how big the group will be.
