    Movie: Terminator: Dark Fate
    Showtime: 7:30 pm at the AMC Metreon
    Meeting Time: 6:30 pm at nearby Amber India

    Terminator: Dark Fate is director James Cameron's sequel to 1991's science fiction blockbuster Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

    We will meet for drinks at Amber India (25 Yerba Buena Lane) at 6:30 pm, during their Happy Hour (M-F 5 to 7 pm), then hop over to the nearby AMC Metreon for the 7:30 pm showing of Terminator: Dark Fate.

    After the movie, those that wish are invited to join us for a bite to eat. The group will decide - Buckhorn Grill (in the Metreon building itself), Keystone Restaurant (across the street), or B55 CraftHouse (in the Marriott).

    IMPORTANT: Everyone must buy his own ticket to the movie. To sit near each other, please try to choose seats near the center left area (as you face AWAY from the screen), midway up - but not down closest to the screen.  The event organizer has reserved seat D3.

    Catch up with friends at our Chairman's First Friday.

    Join us on Friday, December 6th, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm for our monthly event, Chairman's First Friday at Beaux Bar (2344 Market St, SF).

    This event promises to be a great way to visit with old friends, make new friends, and discuss your plans for this holiday season.

    Hosted by MAX SF Chairman Mike Barsul, our Chairman's First Friday features no admission fee and a no-host bar. 

    MAX First Friday events attract anywhere from 40 to 80 people.  With attendees running the gamut in age and interests, it's definitely a diverse group of men.  We always go out of our way to make everyone, especially newcomers, feel welcome, so if you've never joined us before, this is the perfect opportunity to be introduced to some new people.

    A Holiday Concert Benefiting
    Project Open Hand and Aquilas

    Join our community partner, the Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation (REAF), for their annual holiday benefit concert, Help is on the Way for the Holidays. 

    Enjoy a festive and spirited performance featuring a star-studded cast, wonderful music, and plenty of fun.  The evening starts with a silent auction (doors open at 6:30 pm).  The evening wraps up with a VIP after party with the cast at 9:45 pm at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, one block from the theater. 

    The 7:30 pm performance at the Marines’ Memorial Theater, 609 Sutter Street (at Mason), will feature cast members from the Tony Award-winning show Hamilton, cast members from the national tour of the hit Broadway musical, Summer, The Donna Summer Musical, Lisa Vroman, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Shawn Ryan, Steve Knill, as well as others.

    Tickets are $45 for the performance only/balcony seating.  Tickets start at $125 for VIP seating which includes the VIP after party with the cast. 

    REAF is offering a $20 discount to MAX dues-paying members.  In appreciation for MAX's sponsorship of REAF's twenty-fifth  Help Is On The Way benefit concert and gala this past August,  REAF is offering MAX dues-paying members balcony seating reduced to $25 and VIP rear or side orchestra seating reduced to $105.  Read how to get the discount code here

    Join Nick Wade, MAX SF Programs and Events Chair, at Cityscape Lounge, located atop the Hilton San Francisco Union Square for MAX's December Wooftop Wednesday.

    Join MAX for a performance of Smuin Ballet's annual holiday show, The Christmas Ballet For those interested, also join us for a pre-performance dinner at the Grill at the St. Regis.

    The Christmas Ballet is a favorite holiday tradition – complete with dazzling tap numbers, a 40-foot feather boa, and falling snowflakes!  The performance is divided into a classical first half and a fun and jazzy second half featuring red-hot contemporary dances set to pop favorites. 

    The Christmas Ballet includes selections that are moving and beautiful and others that are smart, fun, and sure to bring a smile to your face.  The performance usually ends on just the right note of joie to send you out onto the streets with a spring in your step!

    Join Paul Munro on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:00 pm for dinner at one of his favorite places, The Blind Butcher.

    Jerry Tusan introduced us to The Blind Butcher, the Castro’s newest premier steak house, for the June My Favorite Place.  We had such a good time that we're returning again in December.

    With a casual and comfortable vibe, The Blind Butcher's menu offers hearty main dishes and a variety of appetizers and desserts.  The wait staff are very accommodating, and the menu includes vegan and vegetarian options.  As a recent dining companion mentioned to Paul, every dish is excellent at The Blind Butcher.

    Advance $30 deposit is required to secure your reservation.  Your deposit will be applied to the cost of your meal and beverages.  Each diner will be responsible for paying for their food and drinks in excess of the deposit.  No refunds for cancellations after Friday December 13th.

    Join MAX for The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD theater broadcast of the George Gershwin opera Porgy and Bess.   The opera will be simulcast to the Century Theatre in in the Westfield San Francisco Centre on Saturday, February 1st, starting at 9:55 AM.

    Porgy and Bess is an English-language opera filled with an embarrassment of rich melodies from the American songbook.  The songs just roll out one after another as this tragic love triangle plays out in the Catfish Row section of Charleston.  The story follows the attempts of a crippled street beggar to rescue Bess from Crown, her violent and possessive lover, and from Sportin' Life, her Happy Dust dealer.

    Among the songs included in Porgy and Bess are:

    The theatre is readily accessible from BART.  You can enter the Westfield Center directly from the Powell Street BART station.

    We have reserved a block of 8 tickets midway back and left of center in the theatre.  The seats are F14 - F17 and G14 - G17.  You may view the seating chart for this theatre auditorium here.

    We'll meet in the lobby of the Century Theatre on the 5th floor of the Westfield Centre by 9:30 AM to give everyone time to get any refreshments and get settled before show begins at 9:55 AM.  The opera runs three hours and twenty-five minutes.

    After the opera, those interested can join us at The Rotunda restaurant in the nearby Neiman Marcus for a 1:45pm lunch.  The Rotunda is a short 10-minute walk from the theatre.

    Come join MAX and your host David Petlin for a four night sailing out of SAN FRANCISCO (that’s right, no air fare needed!) on board the beautiful Carnival Miracle.  Sail away under the Golden Gate Bridge (one of the most spectacular sailings) to Sunny Ensenada Mexico where we will meet our hosts for a wonderful day adventuring through the Guadalupe Valley – this is Mexico’s answer to Napa Valley - for a spectacular day of wine tasting.   

    Unspoiled and untouched, the Guadalupe Valley boasts some of the best wine you will taste and food you will eat.  Enjoy the rustic countryside as we visit 3 wineries. Experience the alluring wine culture in the Guadalupe Valley before it reaches Napa Valley prices.  We will also enjoy lunch at a 5-star restaurant in the valley (that would be over $300 per person in San Francisco) for $50.

    On board the Carnival Miracle - you can experience one of a kind dining, entertainment, pools, waterslides, and spa. Take part in the Hasbro Game Show, grab a pint at the RedFrog Pub, or enjoy a show with Playlist Productions. There will also be a LGBT Meet-up on board so you can meet other sailors not with our group!  There is a reason Carnival is the FUN SHIP, with MAX on board, you know it will be!

    For lunch we will be enjoying a five course lunch at a five star restaurant.  While the restaurant will be serving a set menu, they will be able to accommodate someone who is vegan or has other dietary concerns.

    Cruise price starts at $419 a person plus taxes, fees, and gratuities based on two in the room.  On board an optional dinner will include a chef’s dinner in the main dining room that is one of a kind and not to miss!

    UPDATE:  The cost of the shore excursion will be approximately $150 per person including transportation in the Guadalupe Valley , tastings at three wineries, and the five course lunch at a 5 star restaurant (discretional gratuity and drinks at the restaurant are not included). 

    Fee to MAX is $25 for members and $50 for non-members.  All MAX dues-paying members will receive $25 in on-board credit per cabin.
